Jack: 1976-1979 - Anyone lucky enough to had seen this band play live were in for a treat "Power Pop/Rock" at its best - the band gained a reputable reputation as a live act and would fill many a venue - great songs written by frontman "Gary Gayner" and lead guitarist "Gary Pearce". The band were spotted by London production company "Target Music" and were then signed to Barry Sullivan's "Superfly Promotions" the band were re-named "The National Smile Band" and marketed as a teen pop group - [the band moved to London] - the teen image did not sit well with the original band members and after national press and TV exposure the band split in 1978/79 after the sacking of lead guitar player "Gary Pearce" [see National Smile Band] ..other original band members were: Phil Stones/Fred White and several drummers including Gordon Caines. Lead Guitarist "Gary Pearce" died in December 2008 aged 49. [also see Blue Side of Midnight] http://gary.pearce.gonetoosoon.org/memorial/
